Fountains Abbey – Saturday October 8th

Excellent bridleways and minor roads on the moors north east of Nidderdale and in the valleys of the rivers Skell and Laver
Based on the excellent village hall in Sawley village with adjacent parking on the green, local caterer will be offering food so bring your wallet.
The area generally slopes from west to east and consists of a series of parallel valleys (all around the blooming heather!); competitors will use the minor roads, hard tracks & grassy bridleways that crisscross the area, hills are unavoidable but predominately in the west.
There are even some easier, nearer controls for junior riders.

Prizegiving for the National and NYMBO leagues will take place at 3.30

You can enter the Fountains Abbey Bikeo on the BMBO website by clicking here

The event is in Sawley.

Driffield Race Report

Thanks to the 25 riders who made it to Driffield to ride the intricate muddy tracks in this Army training area made more interesting by man-made hills and quarries. Andy Conn just managed to beat Alan Hartley by 30 seconds on the A course but it was great to see Andrew Windrum back on his bike for the first time since he broke his collar bone. Charlie SC won the B course, the Van Dams were the only riders on the C course and Dave Offey used his local knowledge to good effect on the Score course. The splits are available on the Halo web page so follow this link

Thanks to the volunteers who made this event happen. Helen Smith for planning the footO as I used 28 of her controls for our event; Neil Harvatt for looking after the SI and Brian Slater for printing the maps; Dave Robertson and Mark Emmerson who looked after the start and finish; and Andy Conn and John Rawden who helped me collect the controls in afterwards.

I think we will repeat this format next year using FootO events on Sunday mornings followed by MBO in the afternoon – with possibly an MBO Score the day before.
