Course map for 6th July at Dallowgill now available!

Just under two weeks until the next NYMBO event at Dallowgill, planned by David Day and using a new event centre.

Online entry for 6th July (closes Thursday July 4th)

You’ll get 25% off if you’ve entered by 1st July, and every entry will get a free food voucher to use at the onsite caterer that David has organised.

Event centre: Dallowgill Outdoor Centre, HG4 3RB; (Grid ref: 196719 near Knott Farm)

it’s a posh hostel mostly used for schools during the week so we have sole use on the day of the event. Car parking is on hardstanding adjacent to the centre, please park tidily; registration & toilets are inside the building, a caterer will be attending after finishing [bacon sandwiches & cake items] – please bring cash if you wish to partake.

The area is a good mixture of land rover tracks across the moors with fine views if you have the time to look, a myriad of minor roads, some tricky BWs including a deep ford with a cobbly bottom for bravehearts [marked on the map] & an opportunity to hone those hill climbing muscles!

Mobile signal is poor at the centre so the landline number will be on the map for emergencies,  however  there is wifi in the building. Make sure that you download the MapRun course before arrival, please ask for guidance if you have not used MapRun before.Start

The August Bank Holiday Monday event is likely to be at Terrington in the Howardian Hills (following the cancellation of the Ebor White Rose weekend) – details to be confirmed soon.

And finally, a quick note on our September weekend of events on 14/15 September. If you would like to camp at that event so you can easily ride in both events, then there’s no need to book in advance – we’ll just get a note of people who want to camp when we get entires and submit them to the campsite in one go.

Kildale report

Provisional results here  (Tim is sorting out the riders with MapRun issues and the final results will be ready in the next couple of days)

Thank you for riding yesterday and for the comments Jill and I received.  We tend to plan 3 hour events but this time, for some unknown reason, I thought it would be a good idea to use the single track over Hograh Moor and so opening up a larger event area.

As for all planners, the aim is to get the lead riders to just scrape through in the time allowance and having to go for a completely isolated 5 pointer to clear up  Tom G managed to clear up in 3 hours 59 and had to go for the nasty #3 (5 pointer) up the track from Battersby road bend.  Well done.

We’re glad that there were some high scorers and everyone seemed to enjoy the tracks both north and south of Kildale.

We enjoyed planning the route and the tracks were dry during the planning stage (honest !).  We’ve had a deluge over the last couple of weeks making the riding pretty tricky in places.

A big thank you to Tony Thonley for preparing the map.  I’m sure you agree that it was excellent quality.  Finally, a big thank you to Tim for his support and for sorting out MapRun.

Hope to see you soon.  Nidderdale next. (enter online here)

At Sutton Bank, we did get some feedback from the owner of the stables at Fox Folly – just north of control 30. He spoke to at least one rider as he was concerned about the number of bikes going through with the horseriding in progress. Feedback from the horseriders suggests all our riders to appropriate action around the horses (which is good) and we’ve agreed to make sure to let them know the next time we’re in the area.

Sutton Bank – Provisional Results

Glorious weather and (mostly) dry tracks made for an excellent event at Sutton Bank yesterday. Thank to John Dixon for his planning and organising efforts – his comments below.

Provisional MapRun results are here. A couple of riders experienced some phone issues, and Tim thinks those are all resolved but please get in touch if you spot any scoring issues.

Final results will be published in the next couple of days.

Recent sunshine had dried out the tracks considerably since I test rode them a few weeks ago. More sun today tempted over 50 riders to turn out, some for the first time. Hopefully they enjoyed themselves and will try further events.

As usual, a few riders, who shall remain nameless, cleaned up or came very close to it. The rest seemed to have taken a variety of routes but for most it was an uphill finish. Despite that, there were positive remarks about the area, especially to the west, which was new to quite a few of the riders. Thanks to the Park Authority and the Bike Shop for their support
