Congratulations to the leading riders (I’ll ask them to post their routes) and it was great to see 59 riders just 2 weeks before Christmas. I thoroughly enjoyed my ride without ever getting higher than 34 metres above sea level so no chance to relax as their were no down hill sections other than the railway bridges! My route was 11 20 26 3 1 19 2 8 6 15 4 7 24 30 28 18 16 14 23 10 and I was just disappointed that my map was folded just south of Helperby so I turned left 800m of #29. Thanks to Andrew for an excellent course which I thought was going to be too large when I saw the 1-60,000 map but he was right as usual. Andy Conn might have cleared up if he hadn’t split his tyre. Thanks to Jens for another excellent map and to the staff at the Blacksmiths Arms for their friendly welcome. Our next event is on January 21st at Beckwithshaw which will be slightly hillier. Hope to see you there.
Merry Christmas, Steve
PS Our apartment in Samoens is still free for a few weeks this ski season (including February half-term and Easter) so get in touch if you are interested.

Thanks Andy, Steve and Jens for another superb event.
My route was 15, 20, 26 then probably a mistake but straight to 1, 19,2,8,13,25,27,9,22,12,21 past a punctured Andy Conn, 29, 24, 30, 28 , 18, 16, 5, 10 , 23 then home.
Rode 53.09 km or 32.95 miles, the next event won’t be so flat or at 1:60,000
Cheers
Tim
A complete surprise to me to be a leading rider!
I think my route was: 10, 5, 16, 18, 28, 30, 7, 24, 29, 21, 15, 22, 27, 9, 17……and then I rode back at haste past 15 & 6 as the clock was ticking rather rapidly.
Really nice first event, thanks to everyone for being so friendly and welcoming.
Hi Guys,
Great way to spend a couple of hours on a lovely December Saturday morning, and nice to hear I managed to be the leading rider within my category. My route was 11, 20, 26, 1, 19, 2, 8, 13, 25, 27, 22, 12, 21, 29, 24, 30, 28, 18, 16, 10. I was 5 minutes late back in the end, and rode 30.2 miles (48.6 km). I thought I may have bitten off more than I could chew by heading right to the top of the map, but thankfully I made it back without being too late.
I love the treasure hunt format, and I always try to see how many I can remember, before I bottle it and end up stopping at a checkpoint to write them all down (so I don’t forget them :-)) !
I will hopefully be able to make the Beckwithshaw event, so fingers crossed I shall see you there.
Scott
Morning Debs
Well done and welcome! Hope to see you at another event soon.

Thanks for your routes. They definitely make for more interesting reading than my comments. Thanks also to Conrad & Jill who have told me that they got their score wrong. They (only) scored 441 points so Tim was the leading rider. I’ve amended the results file and Andrew Windrum’s comments
Many thanks for a great event. Ben did a great job towing me around as follows: 10,5,16,18,28,30,7,24,29,21,12,22,9,17,15,6,2,8,19,1,3,then, despite being out of time we couldnt resist the 65 points round Beningbrough 11,20,26 incurring 90 penalties as a result, oh well!. Total distance was 50k. Thanks again to the organisers.
Steve and Ben Collins
Well done Tim, old and bold!
Despite this being an area I ride regularly, I still managed to over-estimate what I could achieve in the time. But it was a great course planned by Andrew which I enjoyed immensely, and much better weather compared to this time last year. I especially enjoyed the cryptic clues that confused me…
