Course map for Grewelthorpe – July 22nd – 50% off for entries by midnight Wednesday

Here’s the course map for next Saturday July 22nd at Grewelthorpe.

Online entry closes midnight Thursday 20th (50% off for entries by midnight Wednesday 19th)

The event centre is the Village Hall (postcode HG4 3BU, GR 231 761)

Registration 0900 – 1015 | Starts 0930 – 1030  | 3 hour course time

The Grewelthorpe area has been used before for bike O but David Day has found some bridleways for you to explore which should be new to most of you.

The area will include some fantastic views of North Yorkshire from the moors to the east; a complex variety of minor roads with little traffic; some navigational decisions on the many BWs. The Swetton Moor BW is mapped as invisible & is not recommended; the Holmes Farm BW is also mapped as invisible but is a good grass surface & perfectly rideable. There is a ford on the BW S of Hedge Nook which will normally be calf deep & not recommended. The BW through Galphay Woods has been diverted & the map has been corrected to reflect the new route.

Grewelthorpe Cafe will be open before & after the event but they are asking for pre-orders
by midnight Wednesday prior. Menu is attached, soup choices are mushroom or carrot &
coriander; there are also bacon rolls at £3.50. Food choices to David by the entry deadline:

There is no car park for this event; please park tidily in the village but not on the green.

Ingleby Greenhow Results & Report

Thanks to Conrad and Jill for planning an excellent course, and for providing much needed quiche and pork pie sustenance at the end! Apologies for the slight confusion about the location of the Village Hall for parking!

Results are here – Andy Conn cleared the course in less than the 3 hour time limit and some high scores for others. We’ll clear up the duplicate entries, get in touch with any issues.

Event report:

Thank you for coming along to ride at the event. The tracks were bone dry, and the weather wasn’t too hot with a bit of cloud cover. Jill and I wanted a high scoring event with the fast riders having to worry about whether to leave isolated five pointers around the course.

Most of you seemed to enjoy getting up on the Cleveland Escarpment and around Urra Moor. The tracks were sandy in places but quick once you got going. Judging by the Maprun courses riders made use of the various routes up to and down from the escarpment.

Well done to Andy C for bagging up in 2 hours forty odd minutes and to all of you for some tough riding. We’re glad that many of you stayed for the pies and teas at the end. It’s always great to spend a bit more time catching up with our Bike O buddies.

Thank you to Ingleby Greenhow Village Hall, to the Dudley Arms for the use of their car park, to Tony Thornley for his fantastic map drawing and finally to Tim for his great help and support as ever.

Hope to see you all soon. Happy, safe riding.

Jill and Conrad Ellison

Jill has done a sterling job testing all of the grotty tracks for Conrad, and the recent weather means everything should be pretty dry! There are snacks provided at the finish as well!

In our M70 class. two riders have been out today to test the course and the map – Steve’ the cash’ Willis narrowly beat Tony ’the map’ Thornley by 10 points with a score of 440 to Tonys 430, This sets the bar for some some clear ups to happen on Saturday – they did both do 45km!

there may be an update on parking arrangements later today – it will be in this spot if you check back later

Look forward to seeing riders tomorrow, don’t forget your sunscreen!

Ingleby Greenhow – Saturday 17th June – online entry now open – course map available

Hi All,

A quick note about the next event on 17 June.  Looking forward to seeing you at the event.  I rode it yesterday to check Maprun.  The tracks are bone dry and really quick.  You can avoid nettles, brambles, hogweed and cow parsley completely.  There are still bluebells in the woods.  I’m looking forward to seeing some big scores.  The event area takes you up on the Cleveland Escarpment near Round Hill (1490ft).  Pies and quiche and refreshments will be provided at the finish.

See you there.

Conrad

Paradise Farm – Results & Report **updated results & control map**

High Paradise Farm finish line

Thanks to John Dixon for sterling course planning efforts and ensuring the lack of rain that came through later in the afternoon,

MapRun results are here – an impressive top scores from Tom. Please get in touch with any issues or adjustments required. PD Summary – Paradise Farm 06-05 Results

John’s report:

Avoiding the woods opened up a new area. The weather made some of the trails more difficult and the navigation demanded full conversation but everyone seemed to have enjoyed the challenge.

Thanks to everyone who turned out and thanks to High Paradise for hosting another event. I’ll be back for more coffee and scones very soon.

Here’s the track map, if yours doesn’t feature please make sure your track has uploaded. It seems no-one ventured to control 4!

Next event – Paradise Farm – 6th May – Online booking is working now

Coming hot on the heels of Dacre is our next event at Paradise Farm next weekend on Saturday May 6th.

After a number of events without the BMBO payment option, it’s brilliant to see the hard work of the BMBO team is completed and online entries are fully available once more.

Remember that you’ll now need to get your full BMBO membership for the year to get the best price.

We’re keeping our prices at their low Winter event level this year for everyone who enters by midnight on Wednesday before the event. After that, or for entry on the day, its the higher fee.

That means for Senior BMBO members it’s £5 until Wednesday and £10 thereafter

Enter Paradise Farm here

Other event details to follow later in the week, but for now here;s the blank course map!
