I’ve just found out that the Black Horse at Tollerton is closed. Ooops. Still meeting there at 6pm tomorrow (Thursday 30th) for our ride but we’ll be eating at the Station Inn afterwards. 10 riders signed up so far. Hope to see you there. Steve

NYMBO League after 2 events
Thanks for John Dixon for his work on the sums. Here is the league table

Ingleton Organiser’s Comments
Thanks to Graham Fielding for planning an excellent course at his first attempt, Jens for another excellent map and the helpers as ever for making the event run smoothly. Sorry about the slight change of venue but the old middle school made a better centre than the primary school and the new bakery was very popular before and after your rides.
It was brilliant to ride in warm, calm summer sunshine on dry tracks after the previous 2 days and brilliant to see 85 riders on the day. There was plenty of route choice with Alex and Andy clearing 90% of the controls. Congratulations to all of the category winners who Graham has included in his report below.
I enjoyed my ride and decided to push up Twistleton End then take advantage of the tailwind over Scales Moor before the brilliant Pennine Bridleway followed by the lovely tracks above Austwick. It also meant that I saw lots of riders heading the other way which was probably the optimum 5 hour route.
Full results have already been posted on the web page along with the competition map if you couldn’t make it to the event and want to follow anyone’s route.
The next events in both leagues are both 3 hour events with a mixture of forestry and moorland. The NEMBOS event is at Kildale on Sunday 9th June and the NYMBO event is at Thirlby near Sutton Bank on Saturday 22nd June where there will also be refreshments on sale in the sports pavillion.
Hope to see you at one of these events or at the social ride at the Black Horse, Tollerton this Thursday 30th May.
Steve
Planner’s Comments
Ingleton was my first attempt at course planning & in 5 hours one can cover a lot of ground. I didn’t want a clear up but I did want plenty of route choice. When we put out the controls on Friday afternoon it was hell & high water but when I awoke at Ribblehead on Saturday morning all was calm & sunny. I arrived at the event centre at 9am & a steady stream of riders was hitting the start dibber from 10am onwards. Shortly after 11 o’clock all competitors were out on the course.
I rode over to Feizor for a coffee & saw a few riders who were in that area then returned via GBH & Clapham tunnels to the event centre. Surprisingly first back with over an hour to spare was Duncan Stuart who’d backed himself into a corner in Kingsdale. Eventually, riders started to arrive in droves all seeming very happy with their day’s riding in the stunning Yorkshire sunshine.
For a long time it looked like Ben Martin(M21) was going to take overall victory with 373 points but then Andy Conn(M40) 436 & Alex Pilkington (also M40) 441 came in to win it & take 2nd place with Ben finishing an impressive 3rd overall. John Rawden took the M50 honours with Dennis Jaques winning M60. Ladies winner was Sheila Pearce, best pair were Jeff Barber & Paul Scott & Generation team winners were once again the Vestys. Congratulations to all & well done to everyone who took part.
I would like to thank everyone who helped out at the start/finish & also the small band of willing volunteers who helped put out & collected controls. A special word of thanks to Paul & Samantha Leight who, after 5 hours riding selflessly volunteered to collect the distant #57 high up on the shoulder of Whernside.
Many thanks, Graham Fielding

2013 Ingleton 50000 Working Drawing with Controls 21st May
Another brilliant day and an excellent turnout (85 riders) for a 5 hour event. Thanks to all of the helpers especially the control collectors. Full report tomorrow but hope to see you at Tollerton on Thursday for a social ride, Kildale for the next NEMBOS event on Sunday 9th June or Thirlby (Near Sutton Bank for the next NYMBO event on Saturday 22nd June
Ingleton Map without controls now available
Here’s the map of next weekend’s event without the controls to give you an idea of the terrain and where the start/finish is. We’d welcome any feedback on whether you like this feature, please either on this post or talk to Steve at the event.
Graham Fielding has planned an excellent course using less of the area south of Ingleton than last year and more of the Pennine Bridleway. Registration has been moved to Ingleton Middle School which is only 150m from the Junior school with parking still on the nearby roads and very close to a brand new, excellent bakery
It’s a big file so may take a little time to download when you click on the picture.
