2015 Sicklinghall TH 40000 Working Drawing with Controls 4th February

Thanks to Tim Evans for planning an excellent course in cracking countryside on a perfect winter day based at the very welcoming Scotts Arms. Everyone seemed to enjoy their rides – even those riders who suffered with punctures and others who decided to risk the muddy bridleways. Congratulations to the winners – Andy Conn (the overall winner with 450 points), Adrian & Luke Parker (410), Neil Reed  (397), Jill & Conrad Ellison (347) & Karen Blackburn (280)  I’ve asked them to post their routes and here is mine which was 33km. 1 6 11 21 26 16 20 30 5 25 4 14 28 8 23 3 18 7 27 22. Also a special mention to the 3 M18 riders – Max Vesty (443), Ed Oliver Evans (435) and Nathan Parker(410).

The 2015 NYMBO League starts on March 28th with a 3 hour event at Weaverthorpe in the Yorkshire Wolds. There is also an MTBO Sprint event at Allerthorpe Common in the morning so you can have a warm-up on the way.

Hope to see you there

2015 NYMBO League Poster

There have been 2 changes to the provisional fixtures. The first event in the Wolds in March is now a 3 hour event and the third event in the Dales in May is now a 5 hour event. All of the event fliers are now available with just 2 event centres still to be confirmed. We hope to see you at some or all of our events this year.

Planning for the March event – what a difference a day (or so) makes….

Steve Roberts and Karen Clark have been hard at work planning the first league event in the Yorkshire Wolds on March 28th. Here’s a couple of pictures from last week to show just how changeable the conditions can be, one from Tuesday the other from Saturday. In 2013, we had to cancel the Pocklington event because of the cold weather, lets hope that the conditions will be fine this year! 1-20140124-Wolds ???????????????????????????????

Biggin Results & Map

It was great to see 51 riders set off from the Blacksmiths Arms on a bright but very cold day. Jeff Barber had planned an excellent course but he needed the assistance of his daughters Amelia & Laura to manage the start and finish. Congratulations to the category winners. Hopefully, they will post their routes but here is mine. 2 26 20 6 14 27 16 21 17 25 13 22 8 18 12 11 5 29 10 15 I was happy with my route until I realised at Monk Fryston that there wasn’t a way back to Biggin without going through Thorpe Willoughby which meant that I was relieved to finish only 20 minutes late. Still a cracking day out. Hopefully we’ll see as many riders at Sicklinghall next month.

2014 Ripon TH Working Drawing with Controls 7th December

Thanks to David Day for another excellent course which was perfect for December with street navigation as well as some cracking bridleways, 7 riders cleared all 30 controls so everyone else got better scores than usual and there were no complaints. The South Lodge made an excellent event centre with a warm welcome and lovely food.
Merry Christmas and, hopefully, we’ll see as many riders at Biggin on January 24th.
Steve
PS Someone left some gloves and I still have a pair of cycling shoes from Grewelthorpe. Please let me know if they are yours.
