It was a beautiful winter’s day with fantastic views from Grewelthorpe Moors, 46 competitors came & we ran out of maps so the last arrivals had hand marked blank maps.
Thanks to David Day for planning an excellent course, which I hope everyone enjoyed (the map annotation for “deep ford” proved to be accurate!)
The results are here: 20200118 – Grewelthorpe v2 (version updated 20-01-2020 18:44)
David has taken time to put the results on a more detailed spreadsheet showing the controls visited which is excellent.
The control map is below, here are David’s event comments:
If your score is different to the score you thought you had when you finished, I have checked the arithmetic & disallowed some answers/guesses:
- I allowed #3 – Roselea Tea Room must not open in Jan but the sign was there in Dec! #7 has 3 mirrors but only 2 visible from a distance,
- #23 any flower allowed [even sweet mango, onion, pineapple but definitely not cow!]
- #29 was Cookery school but the sign ~ 1k NE says Forest School.
There was a first ever entry from a pair on foot – well done Kevin & Vicky for undertaking this challenge; they had a good route but struggled to find some of the farm footpaths so ran out of time, Vicky was first lady at the night O event later that day.
Class leaders: M open – Chris Dodd/Duncan Archer on the same points 316, M50 – Adrian Parker 265, W – Jo Anderson & Jemima Parker 215, Mixed – Andrea & Steve Foster 203, Gen – Charles & Rebecca Mayes 140. Any queries to David Day – deedays@tiscali.co.uk
If you used the email entry form you may have spotted that it said “Ilkley” rather than “Grewelthorpe” for January – Apologies for any confusion!
Thanks for an enjoyable event David
